SECRETARY RETIRES AFTER 60 YEARS SERVICE.

Mr. Peter Hopley has decided to retire after 60 years as Secretary to the Tenterden Club and on Friday night, 15th April 2011 a presentation and party was held in the rear bar of the Club.

In the Chairman’s speech he said that not only was Peter the Secretary he was, in fact, the Club itself, having served so stalwartly over the last 60 years and he would be a very hard act to follow, his knowledge of the workings of the club being second to none. His wife, Pam, was also thanked for putting up with all the interruptions with phone calls and visits for various reasons, and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

Peter was presented with a plaque in commemoration of his service which he should be able to look at from time to time to remind him of his achievements. He was also presented with a name board which is to be erected above the main bar and from now on that bar will be known as The Peter Hopley Bar.

There was an excellent buffet provided by the caterers, Food Fairies, together with a cake in the shape of The Tenterden Club, which was made by Jane Brown.
